7 blessings Christians should be thankful for every day

thankful

As Christians, we are called to live in a state of gratitude, recognizing the multitude of blessings that God provides us each day.

Living without appreciation can often lead to a sense of dissatisfaction while being thankful for each blessing, no matter how small, can cultivate a sense of contentment and joy.

For Christians, there are countless blessings bestowed upon us each day, whether we recognize them or not.

And it’s up to us to pause, take note, and express our gratitude for these blessings.

In this article, I’ll share 7 key blessings that we Christians should be thankful for every day.

1. The blessing of life

Every new day is a gift, a blessing we often take for granted. Imagine waking up each morning with the realization that being alive is a special privilege.

Life itself is a profound blessing bestowed upon us by God.

Our existence is not a random occurrence.

According to scripture, we are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). God has intricately designed every aspect of our being.

From the rhythm of our heartbeat to the complexity of our thoughts, every facet of our lives is a testament to God’s incredible craftsmanship.

Each breath we take is an opportunity to thank Him for the precious gift of life.

Moreover, our lives have purpose and meaning. We are part of God’s grand design and each of us has a unique role to play in His plan.

This understanding should fill us with awe and gratitude, inspiring us to live each day with purpose and thankfulness.

2. The blessing of faith

The gift of faith is another daily blessing Christians should be deeply thankful for. Faith is not a simple emotion or a fleeting feeling.

It’s a solid, unwavering trust in God’s promises, His goodness, and His love for us.

It’s faith that carries us through the storms of life. When the waves of uncertainty and fear threaten to engulf us, our faith serves as an anchor, steadying us amidst the turmoil.

Why is faith such a blessing?

  • It provides us hope: Faith reminds us that no matter how dark the night, the dawn will break. It assures us that God has a plan for good in our lives (Jeremiah 29:11).
  • It brings peace: Even in the face of adversity, faith helps us remain calm, knowing God is in control.
  • It fosters resilience: Faith equips us to endure hardships with courage and determination.

A believer’s faith is not blind — it’s based on the solid foundation of God’s word. Embracing this blessing of faith daily can transform our perspective and enable us to live life more fully and gratefully.

3. The blessing of God’s word

We’ve discussed life and faith, two immense blessings.

However, there’s another daily blessing that serves as a support system for these two – God’s word. Yes, the Bible is not just a book — it’s a living testament of God’s love and wisdom for humanity.

In fact, I’d argue that the Bible is our spiritual nutrition. Just as our bodies need food to function, our spirits require nourishment. And what better nourishment than the word of God?

Every verse, every chapter contains lessons, wisdom, and stories that guide us in our spiritual journey. It teaches us about love, patience, forgiveness, justice, humility – the very values that form the essence of a blessed life.

The deeper we delve into God’s word, the more we realize its transformative power. It not only enlightens our minds but also fills our hearts with hope and strength.

4. The blessing of prayer

Ever thought about the incredible power that prayer holds in our lives?

As Christians, we have the privilege of direct communication with God. This is a blessing that we should appreciate every day.

Prayer is more than just reciting words or making requests. It’s a heartfelt conversation with our Creator, where we express our deepest feelings, hopes, and fears.

It’s in these moments of utter honesty and vulnerability that we draw closer to God. We experience His love, comfort, and guidance in a profound way.

In prayer, we not only talk to God but also listen to Him. We seek His will and receive divine wisdom to navigate life’s complexities.

Moreover, prayer is our spiritual weapon in times of temptation and spiritual warfare. Through it, we can seek God’s protection and strength.

Little-known fact: The book of Psalms in the Bible is often called “The Prayer Book of the Bible” due to its numerous prayers expressing diverse emotions and circumstances.

5. The blessing of fellowship

Being part of a community of believers is a blessing we often overlook. The fellowship with other Christians is not just about shared worship — it’s about mutual support, encouragement, and growth.

In our Christian journey, we are not meant to walk alone. We are part of a larger body – the body of Christ.

  • Shared prayer
  • Collective worship
  • Joint service
  • Mutual edification
  • Accountability

These elements of fellowship strengthen our faith, enrich our spiritual understanding, and foster a sense of belonging.

We learn from each other’s experiences, draw strength from each other’s faith, and comfort each other in times of distress.

Fellowship is where we experience the love of Christ in action through the kindness and compassion of fellow believers. It’s an everyday blessing that adds depth to our Christian walk.

6. The blessing of grace

Let’s face it, we all fall short. We make mistakes, we sin, we stray from God’s path. But here’s the remarkable thing – God still loves us. This is the blessing of grace, a gift we should be thankful for every single day.

Grace is God’s unmerited favor towards us. It’s His love and forgiveness extended to us, not because we deserve it, but because He is a compassionate and merciful God.

I think of grace as a second chance, a fresh start.

No matter how far we’ve strayed, grace brings us back into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father.

God’s grace is not a license to sin. Rather, it’s an invitation to repentance and transformation.

It’s His way of saying, “I love you too much to leave you as you are.”

7. The blessing of eternal life

Imagine a life free from pain, suffering, and death. A life filled with joy, peace, and love.

This is the promise of eternal life – a blessing that Christians look forward to and should be thankful for every day.

Eternal life is more than just an endless existence. It’s everlasting fellowship with God, living in His presence and experiencing His love in its fullest measure.

This blessing comes through faith in Jesus Christ.

As stated in John 3:16:

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

The assurance of eternal life changes our perspective on our earthly lives. We’re not just living for the here and now; we’re living for eternity. This hope infuses our lives with purpose and meaning.

Have you ever reflected on this blessing? Have you considered how the promise of eternal life influences your daily decisions and actions?

It’s a blessing that should inspire gratitude, humility, and purposeful living each day.

Living a life of gratitude

Gratitude is more than just an emotion; it’s a lifestyle. When we recognize the daily blessings in our lives as Christians, it deepens our faith, heightens our joy, and fortifies our resilience.

From the gift of life to the assurance of eternal life, each blessing is a testament to God’s unwavering love and faithfulness.

Cherishing these blessings cultivates a heart of thankfulness and steers us toward a more fulfilling spiritual journey.

  • Reflect on these blessings daily
  • Express your gratitude in prayer
  • Share these blessings with others

Incorporate these practices into your spiritual routine. Notice how they enrich your relationship with God and influence your interactions with others.

Gratitude is transformative. Let it transform your faith, your perspective, and ultimately, your life!
