8 signs you’re a high class person (even though you don’t have much money)

There’s a common misconception that class is all about money, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

The fact is, you can have all the money in the world and still lack class. Conversely, you can have very little money and ooze class from every pore.

Being a high class person is about your character, your values, your approach to life. And believe me, there are certain signs that show you’re a high class individual, regardless of your financial status.

Let’s dive in.

1) You uphold high standards

You don’t need a diamond-studded watch or a private jet to show that you have class. High-class individuals, regardless of their financial status, uphold high personal standards.

They are the people who treat everyone around them with respect, regardless of their social status. They carry themselves with dignity and grace, even in the face of adversity.

A high-class person might not have the most expensive clothes, but they take care of what they have, carrying themselves with an air of self-respect and confidence.

Their manners are impeccable, their integrity is unimpeachable, and their character is admirable. These are the markers of a truly high-class individual, and they don’t cost a dime.

2) You value experiences over possessions

This one hits close to home. I remember when I started earning my first salary. There was an initial rush to buy all the things I’d always wanted. A fancy watch, a designer bag, the latest gadgets – you name it.

But over time, I realized these things didn’t give me a lasting sense of happiness or satisfaction. In fact, they often left me feeling empty and unfulfilled.

That’s when I started investing in experiences rather than possessions. Instead of buying the latest smartphone, I’d save up for a trip to a place I’d never been before. Instead of splurging on expensive clothes, I’d use that money to enroll in a cooking class or buy tickets to a concert.

And you know what? These experiences brought me so much more joy than any material possession ever could.

Being a high-class person isn’t about having the most expensive things; it’s about valuing experiences and memories over material possessions. It’s about understanding that life isn’t measured by the things we own, but by the moments we live and the memories we create.

3) You’re an avid reader

In a world where technology and screens dominate our lives, there’s something truly classy about someone who still cherishes the tradition of reading. It’s not just about being well-informed or articulate, it’s also about valuing knowledge and wisdom.

Did you know that many of the world’s most successful people, including Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, attribute a significant part of their success to reading? They understand that knowledge is priceless and that reading is one of the most effective ways to acquire it.

High-class individuals don’t let their circumstances limit their knowledge. Even if they can’t afford the latest bestselling books, they make use of libraries, second-hand book shops, or online resources. They understand that in the long run, investing in their mind is more valuable than any material possession.

4) You practice gratitude

A high-class person knows the power of gratitude. They understand that it’s not about how much they have, but about appreciating what they do have.

No matter how difficult their circumstances might be, they find reasons to be grateful. They appreciate the simple things in life – a beautiful sunset, a kind gesture from a stranger, a delicious home-cooked meal.

Practicing gratitude doesn’t cost anything, but its rewards are priceless. It cultivates positivity, reduces stress, and promotes happiness.

If you regularly take time to reflect on the good things in your life and express gratitude for them, it’s a clear sign that you’re a high-class individual. Remember, true class is about appreciating what you have while you strive for better.

5) You give back to the community

Being a high-class person isn’t just about how you treat yourself – it’s also about how you treat others.

A high-class individual understands the importance of giving back. They realize that they are a part of a larger community, and they make it a point to contribute in whatever way they can.

They might not have a lot of money to donate, but they give their time, their skills, their compassion. They volunteer at local charities, help out neighbors in need, or simply lend an empathetic ear to someone who’s having a tough time.

Giving back isn’t about seeking recognition or rewards. It’s about making a positive difference in the lives of others. It’s about understanding that we all have something valuable to offer, no matter how small.

6) You’re resilient in the face of adversity

Life has a way of throwing curveballs at us, and believe me, I’ve had my fair share. There have been times when my finances were stretched thin, when I had to question my every decision, and when it felt like life was a never-ending uphill battle.

But during those challenging times, I learned the importance of resilience. I realized that being a high-class person isn’t about having an easy life; it’s about how you handle the difficult times.

High-class individuals don’t let hardships break them; instead, they use them as stepping stones to become stronger, wiser, and more compassionate. They understand that their worth is not defined by their circumstances, but by their ability to overcome them.

Resilience doesn’t come with a price tag. It’s something that is cultivated over time through experiences, struggles, and triumphs.

7) You take care of your health

A high-class person understands that health is wealth. They know that no amount of money or material possessions can replace good health.

They might not be able to afford a high-end gym membership or organic groceries, but they still make an effort to maintain a healthy lifestyle. They might exercise at home, opt for nutritious home-cooked meals, or simply make a point of walking more.

Taking care of your health shows self-respect and discipline, two key traits of a high-class person. It’s about valuing yourself enough to make choices that benefit your physical and mental well-being.

If you’re someone who prioritizes your health and wellness despite your financial circumstances, you’re certainly a high-class individual. True class lies in the respect you show towards yourself and your body.

8) You’re always learning and growing

The most important sign of a high-class individual is their relentless pursuit of growth and knowledge. They understand that there’s always something more to learn, a new perspective to consider, a new skill to acquire.

They’re not afraid to question their beliefs, challenge their biases, or step out of their comfort zones. They view every experience as a learning opportunity and every mistake as a lesson.

This continuous quest for improvement sets high-class individuals apart. It shows their commitment to becoming the best version of themselves, irrespective of their financial standing.

If you’re someone who’s always eager to learn and grow, who’s never content with stagnation, you are undeniably a high-class person.

Final thought: It’s about values, not valuables

At its core, being a high-class person is about the values you carry and the character you exhibit. It’s about living a life of integrity, compassion, and resilience, regardless of your financial situation.

Perhaps the most inspiring quote that encapsulates this essence comes from renowned author and speaker, Jim Rohn:

“Character isn’t something you were born with and can’t change, like your fingerprints. It’s something you weren’t born with and must take responsibility for forming.”

This quote beautifully illustrates that being a high-class individual is not a birthright or a privilege reserved for the wealthy. It’s a choice that every person can make, regardless of their socio-economic status.
